Bernheim, You Free and Faithful Friend

Our day at Bernheim Forest began by exploring Patrick Dougherty's fascinating installation, Snake Hollow.

Then, in an effort to breathe life into August's theme "What is in the sky?"we took the Canopy Walk. I was optimistic that we would find birds flitting about from limb to limb, feeding their eager babies mud slick worms.  Maybe an eagle would fly overhead, a limp rodent in its talons.  I could answer more of Sequoia's never ending questions about the food chain.

The walk was beautiful, the view spectacular, the weather beautiful. But not a blessed bird.  Nor a living thing in sight. Coya liked running the length of the boardwalk. Baby Rose slept. And I enjoyed a great view with my ever helpful and delightful mom.

Other adventures at Bernheim included

  • Exploring the fairy houses and making plans to build our own
  • A picnic at the Children's Play Area
  • Holding court in a tree trunk turned throne.  Notice Coya is wearing the crown she wished for on a star. (Thanks, Burger King)
